Clenir dos
Santos: Rio de Janerio, Brazil
Clenir’s late husband Xavier was a Brazilian
pastor leading ‘The Tijuca Memorial Baptist Church’ in Rio de
Janeiro. He and Clenir came to speak at Rayners Lane while
studying in this country and the church has taken an interest in
their work ever since. In the past, RLBC has sent teams to
Brazil to assist with various projects, whilst they have come to
preach and share at our church, and a reciprocal relationship
continues to exist.

Above: Filipe, Luana, Clenir, Izabella & Fabio
Following the loss of Xavier, - as Clenir puts
it: “He was promoted to heaven in February 2008” Clenir decided
to accept the church’s generous offer to live in the church’s
flat with Filipe (19) and Luana (16) and there they have
continued their ministry. Clenir is involved in counselling
children at the church’s project called " Friends
of God" (pictured
below) helping around 40 children and their relatives from a
shanty-town nearby (Morro da Formiga). Many of them have
accepted Jesus and are being helped to grow in Christ.

Clenir is a house-group leader and a member of
the pastoral care team at the church. Clenir has also been
involved with Pavement Project for the last ten years. As the
Global coordinator, Clenir oversees this unique Bible based
counselling process being used with street children in Brazil,
and child soldiers in Colombia. It is used to counsel HIV
positive children in Africa and victims of abuse in India. It
has built a community of workers, children, organizations, and
churches all sharing the Bible’s words of hope, of possibility,
and of change. Please pray for the 16,000 children who have been
counselled and its ten years’ celebration. Pray also for the
next decade of work.
It has been a great challenge for the family to
learn to live without the humorous and joyful presence of Xavier
but we thank God for keeping the family safe, together and
faithful.
Filipe is a house-group leader; is one
of those responsible for the sound system in church; and leads
the worship either on electric guitar or drums. Filipe concluded
his IT technical training and is in his second semester of IT
studies at a public university.
Luana is a teen leader and also oneof
the teens’ worship leaders, singing and playing the piano. Luana
has begun to prepare for the public university exams, desiring
to take on Law. Please pray for her to succeed.
The Tijuca Memorial Baptist Church has
not been able to find a new pastor since Xavier passed away and
is greatly missing leadership.

Fabio, the eldest son, got married to Izabella
who accepted
Jesus after being delivered out of spiritualism and has joined
the church with her family. Fabio and Izabella have a new born
baby called Davi Xavier and Izabella’s 8 year old
son called Matheus.
Fabio has concluded his Gastronomy graduation
and is working as a chef in a restaurant.
Please pray for:
Clenir as she continues in Christian ministry
without her beloved husband alongside her.
Strength for the Dos Santos family during
ongoing extremely difficult and trying times
Continued protection from the violence in Rio
The people of the “Friends of God” project to
be drawn to Christ through Clenir & her colleagues, and
discipled to maturity through their life, faith & teaching.
That God will continue to use Clenir and her
children to bring people to the knowledge and love of Jesus
Christ
Provision for financial needs at this time
A new pastor for the Tijuca Baptist Church in
Rio de Janeiro
For the whole family to be built up and
strengthened in the Lord in all their work & studies
