Eileen Thomson: Japan Good News Ministries, Tokyo Japan

Eileen is a member of Rayners Lane Baptist Church who went to work with the Overseas Missionary Fellowship (now OMF International) in Japan (her name appears on the missionary board as Eileen Batch). She then met and married Lionel, an Australian missionary with OMF. They subsequently left OMF and set up Japan Good News Ministries where they have been ever since.

In 2005 Lionel died but Eileen continues to serve God in Japan directly through her church and indirectly by encouraging family members in Japan who are also involved in ministry there. She has a granddaughter boarding with her whilst attending Tokyo University and a second one finishing a degree in California then planning to return to Japan for ministry.

A PERSONAL WORD FROM EILEEN:

With regard to prayer requests fromthis end, I would ask that you would all join in praying continually that Japan will have a spiritual awakening. We have some very fine Christians, but in spite of all the evangelism that has been done in this country since the end of World War II, compared with other nations, Christians are so few.

The Japanese observe Buddhist and Shinto customs, and so 'worship' many gods. Yet in the schools and on national T.V they are indoctrinated with godless evolutionary teaching. No wonder many of the younger generation say they wish they had never been born”.

Please pray for:

Spiritual awakening in Japan

Buddhist & Shinto teachers to have their eyes opened by the Holy Spirit
Good health which is always a concern for people of mature age. Eileen is now 84.
Her ongoing impact at the church she attends
Eileen’s spiritual influence to be deep and wise on her granddaughter who lives with her

About Japan

Japan is an island nation in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. The characters that make up Japan's name mean "sun-origin" (because it lies to the east of nearby countries), which is why Japan is sometimes referred to as the "Land of the Rising Sun".
