Matthew and Rachel
McNulty: Eastwest College of Intercultural Studies, New Zealand
Matthew
was born into Rayners Lane Baptist Church and passed through
all the stages of Sunday School and Youth work. Serious
ill-health interrupted his university studies and his future
plans. Once recovered, he dropped his CAD studies in favour of
studying for youth work and ministry at Oasis & Spurgeon’s
College. Matthew & Rachel met at Union Baptist Church
when Matthew was leading the youth work and Rachel was ‘passing
through’ doing volunteer work. Together, they responded to the
call of their hearts - and got married; and then the call of God
to prepare for their part in fulfilling His Great Commission –
by going to Eastwest College of Intercultural Studies in New
Zealand to prepare for what God has in store for their future.
This is where we find them now. They are in their final term of
the first year of a two year course and have written....
“......WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO NEXT.....
In our last letter we mentioned that we have
been thinking and considering where God may be leading us and
what might be our next step. We are now pretty sure that God is
leading us to South East Asia, and we have started to approach
different organisations to discover what they are doing in the
area and the kind of workers that they want to join them in
their projects.
We know that God’s timing is right, we don’t
always need to know everything now nor would it necessarily be
good for us to know everything now. Please do be praying for us
as we have many questions and ideas about what we might do, and
the order that we might do them in and each of these will have
consequences on things we will have to start doing next year,
i.e. applications to organisations and for visas etc.”
Please pray for:
Endurance and patience in this last term of
the year.
To get the rest that we need with college and
work.
New staff members that are arriving this term,
a Kiwi lady and a Korean family.
For wisdom about our flat and mortgage, and a
final decision.
That we will continue to learn to communicate
well and understand each other Contact details:

| New Zealand has a
population of over 4.3 million. (June 2010)

The
flag of New Zealand is a defaced Blue Ensign
with the Union Flag in the canton, and four red
stars with white borders to the right. The stars
represent the constellation of Crux,
the Southern Cross.
Past History

New
Zealand is one of the most recently settled
major landmasses. The first known settlers were
Eastern Polynesians
who, according to most researchers, arrived by
canoe in about AD 1250–1300.
Over the following centuries these settlers
developed into a distinct culture now known as
Māori. The population was divided into iwi
(tribes) and hapū
(subtribes) which would cooperate, compete and
sometimes fight with each other.
